30 DAYS OF STEM BUILDING CHALLENGE Task Cards Activity

Let’s be honest, school can be boring sometimes! We try our hardest to incorporate fun activities that engage our students and children, but often times the time just isn’t there, and the brain space to think of one more ‘fun’ activity can be non-existent.

But isn’t that what we want? Engaged kids ENJOYING learning and problem solving?

What better way to do that, then with these wacky 30 Days of STEM Building Task Cards! Start your day off getting those wheels turning with downright silly and strange scenarios that your students and children will look forward to in anticipation every day!

But what about distance learning? That seems to be something on everyone’s mind these days.

This is a VERY good question, and one I am excited to finally address! This set is not only a printable PDF for you to use or distribute to your students, but accompanying the PDF are Google Slides that you can use in your Google Classroom, or download as a PowerPoint to upload through Microsoft Teams.

How can you use these task cards?

  • Have the task cards available in makerspaces, centers, tubs, busy boxes, morning baskets, or available for early finishers to complete using ANY available materials. Students can even draw their creations instead of building them!
  • Use one card a day during morning time. Have students fill out a STEAM / STEM worksheet or discuss and use the Google Slides as a class.
  • Use them for public speaking practice. Allow students to build and then show and tell with the class or their parents. They can discuss what they made, liked, what they would improve, and how it solved the problem on the task cards. They can practice speaking and listening skills, using loud and clear voices, and giving full attention to the speaker. Encourage students to ask questions to their classmates.
  • Ideally the goal is to do one challenge a day, but you could certainly allow students to do more than one. You could also distribute one per student so that every child has their own unique challenge to complete and share with the class!

School does NOT have to be zapped of the silly and joyful parts that keep kids engaged and learning.

KIDS ARE SILLY! THEY ARE WACKY! And your students and children, will absolutely LOVE problem solving to these strange scenarios, that I guarantee you have NEVER heard of before!
